The first Uganda Export Promotion Council (UEPC), the predecessor of Uganda Export Promotion Board (UEPB), was established in 1969. The second UEPC was established under parliamentary statute no. 7 of 1983, which repealed the 1969 statute. The UEPB was restructured and rationalised in response to new dynamic changes under the aegis of World Bank/IMF structural adjustment programs that aimed at establishment of a free market economy.
